Pancreatic Carcinoma

general

A carcinoma that arises from the exocrine or endocrine pancreas. The vast majority of pancreatic carcinomas arise from the exocrine pancreas and are almost always adenocarcinomas. The main subtype of pancreatic adenocarcinoma is ductal adenocarcinoma, which is the most frequently seen type of pancreatic carcinoma. The carcinomas that arise from the endocrine pancreas (islet cells) are neuroendocrine carcinomas (small cell and large cell neuroendocrine carcinomas).
