Transfusion Related Acute Lung Injury

specific

A finding of acute onset of bilateral pulmonary infiltrates by chest radiograph and a PaO2/FiO2 of less than or equal to 300, in the absence of heart failure. The infiltrate may be rich in neutrophils. This syndrome represents a spectrum of pulmonary lesions, endothelial and epithelial, due to numerous factors (physical, chemical, or biological).
